Christmas List of an Alpine Skier

What to give the alpine skier in your life who already has the latest and greatest? That is the question. Luckily, I have the answer.

While I’m sure we’d all be excited to see a new pair of skis or boots under the tree, there’s a whole host of accessories that your skier will love to unwrap this holiday season!

Safety Meets Style

Helmets and goggles are a must, a necessary part of every skier (and snowboarder, safety and fashion don’t discriminate) kit – and they make great gifts! While we’ve got a ton of models and styles in store, here are a few of our favorites this season.

Giro Neo Mips

One of the hottest sellers in the shop, the Neo Mips helmet's distinct design lines provide a unique visual identity while encapsulating the two polycarbonate components of the helmet, coupled with Multidirectional Impact Protection (MIPS) this helmet will keep you both safe and stylish out on the hill.

Smith Squad

Weather and light can be the bane of any skier's existence without proper eyewear. The dual-lens Smith Squad prepares your skier for any curveball Mother Nature (or Lake Superior) may throw at them – not to mention there’s an array of colors to choose from. Additionally, for different helmet shapes, sizes, or stylistic preferences the Squad has a bigger and smaller sibling – the Squad S which features a slightly smaller frame size, and the Squad XL slightly larger. Not to mention, for the shredder on the fly, there's the slick and easy Squad Mag featuring magnetic lenses for easy swapping.

Keepin’ the Speed Sticks Speedy

Skis don’t wax themselves, and sometimes our most desperate waxing needs come when a shop is miles away, unavailable to us, or the conditions are too good to leave the hill. Keep your skier speedy with these tools that can make waxing on-the-go or at home a breeze so they can make sure their skis are ready for whatever conditions are around the corner.

Rex G-Series Kinetic Glide on Wax

The Rexpert’s really knew what they were doing with these. Rub-on wax makes parking-lot tuning emergencies a thing of the past, with these dauber applicated waxes it's as easy as wiping it on, waiting 15-20 minutes, and brushing them out – No ironing or scraping necessary, and you can keep it in your bag!

Mr. Grippy

This is a product I, personally, would be thrilled to see under the tree this year (*cough cough, hint hint*) these tuning blocks are for the table-top technicians, the at-home waxing warriors. High friction rubber on top and bottom ensures that these blocks stay stable while you scrape, brush, and fine tune those edge bevels.

Cold Feet? Never Heard of Them.

One thing I’ve bonded with a lot of skiers over, throughout the years, whether that be on the hill or in the shop, is cold feet. It’s something I’m fairly confident every skier has experienced because, believe it or not, plastic shoes are not necessarily known for their warmth - unless you’re lucky enough to own a heated pair. But if your skier is like me and is constantly searching for the warmest socks or sock-to-toe-warmer combination, here are a few products that will keep your skiers’ toes nice and toasty while they’re out on the hill.

Le Bent Compression Zero Cushion Snow Sock

Part of the battle with keeping our feet warm in ski boots comes from making sure that we maintain proper circulation, this can sometimes be inhibited (depending on your boot fit) by thick wool or cushioned socks. These Le Bent socks perfectly walk the line between lightness and warmth, a compression sock that hasn’t given up it’s ability to insulate, and man do they fit great. Crafted from their Signature Merino Blend, this sock ensures exceptional breathability, temperature regulation and comfort by melding the luxuriously soft on-skin properties of bamboo rayon and the unrivaled odor resistance of merino wool.

Hotronics Heated Socks

The holy grail. It would hardly be prudent of me to open the conversation about cold feet and not mention heated socks. These battery-powered socks feature 3 heat modes and come with a ski-specific cushioned sock. Not to mention, with a heated sock as opposed to other alternatives for in-boot heating, your skier has the option to use these portable heaters in whatever footwear they so choose. They are completely machine washable and for easy transferring between boots or shoes – we also carry replacement (or additional) socks.

These are just a few items from a large inventory of goodies we have available for your skier this holiday season – and some of my unique favorites outside of the usual (but always appreciated and never unnecessary) neck gaiters, hats, gloves, and mittens. Don’t forget to stop by the shop and chat with us about the perfect gift for the skier in your life!
